HS Prannoy not bothered with long trophy drought as he is more than happy with the Thomas Cup triumph

Indian ace shuttler HS Prannoy has not won a title for a long time. The drought has continued for as long as five years. But the experienced shuttler has no regrets since he has helped India win the Thomas Cup and played a massive role in it. Prannoy for a long time was called with different nicknames such as giantkiller or something or the other but he has registered some greta wins against the top players starting from Lee Chong Wei, Lin Dan, Chen Long and even current Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen

But his inability to stay consistent and win big matches one after another saw him struggle. Although he reached his career high ranking of World No.8 back in 2018, Prannoy’s last title came in 2017 when he won the US Open Grand Prix gold.

“See there will be some extraordinary players, who go on to win continuously. But there are others who have the potential and have big wins against big players but never been able to win something really big. I come in that category,” Prannoy told PTI during an interview.

Prannoy has always being a person who trust his instincts and here agin he shares how things will happen if they are meant to happen for now he is just soaking it all the joy that he and the entire Indian contingent received for winning the Thomas Cup as no one really gave the Indians any sort of chance.

“I know I haven’t won something really big, may be something is on the cards, it will come when it has to but even if it doesn’t, it’s okay because you know you are putting in the effort. I think I have been blessed to be in that Thomas Cup squad,” He added.

The Kerala shuttler is mentally very strong as he has fought back every time he faced adversities. He has suffered several injuries and health and yet he stood tall and delivered in two back to back matches when Indian needed him to at the Thomas Cup.

“Last few years I have learnt that things will be tough for you as a sportsperson. At times, in these years, I was comparing myself to others but then I realised that we need to acknowledge the times when you have done something good,” he said.

It was sensational to see Prannoy win some amazing nail bitters in the Thomas CUp and now Indian badminton fans are hoping that he comes back to his best in other tournaments as well in the Singles category as they are keen to see the trophy drought end.
