Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen takes a break from badminton to recharge

Indian ace shuttler Lakshya Sen have opened up on taking a break from the sport and coming back stronger than ever. The young shuttler suffered an opening round defeat against Lee Cheuk Yiu in the BWF Swiss Open Super 300 tournament. Courtesy of his defeat he has now falled down to 25th spot in the BWF World rankings. Sen recently indicating taking a step back with an Instragram post.

“I wanted to take a moment to talk about the importance of taking a break, I’ve come to realize that sometimes, the best thing we can do for ourselves is to take a step back and recharge. So, I took a little break from the normal to focus on myself and bounce back from these setbacks,” Sen wrote in an Instagram post.

While there is no indication for how long he will be out of action. He did not start feature in the Madrid Masters in Spain where PV Sindhu ended up as runners up. It will be interesting to see if Sen turns up for the next tournament on the BWF calender which is the Orleans Masters, a Super 300 tournament scheduled to be held in France.

Sometimes it helps athletes to take a break when they are not going through a great phase. The break helps them rejuvenate and the mind stops thinking about the failures. It increases the hunge rto do well again and reduces the negativity which is mostly momentary. So Sen might be thinking of giving himself time as he mentioned in his post about pursuing hobbies and taking special care of his mental and physical health.

“I’ve realised that it’s not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign of strength and self-awareness. Take care of yourselves, and I’ll see you all soon,” he added.

The Commonwealth Games gold medallist has not had the greateast of the starts to 2023. He bowed out of the prestigious All England after losing to Denmark;s Anton Antonsen. The youngster also suffered a first round exit in the German Open last month. Apart from that he also failed to defend his India open title.

Indian badminton fans are hopeful that he will be back for the Sudirman Cup and the Malaysia Masters in May and the Thailand Open at the start of June.
