Kiran George Storms into Korea Masters Semifinals

India’s Kiran George delivered a stellar performance to secure a spot in the men’s singles semifinals of the Korea Masters badminton tournament on Friday. The 24-year-old defeated Japan’s Takuma Obayashi in straight sets, winning 21-14, 21-16 in a quarterfinal clash that lasted just 39 minutes.

George, currently ranked 44th in the world, showed excellent form and control throughout the match, maintaining his composure against the Japanese shuttler.

This victory follows his impressive second-round upset of third seed Chi Yu Jen from Chinese Taipei, where he emerged victorious in a thrilling three-game encounter, 21-17, 19-21, 21-17.

As the only Indian competing in the tournament, George has carried the nation’s hopes admirably. His journey to the semifinals has cemented his place as a rising talent in Indian badminton.

Up next, George faces a formidable challenge against Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn, the tournament’s top seed. Vitidsarn, known for his aggressive play and tactical brilliance, will test George’s mettle in what promises to be an intense semifinal clash.

George’s performance in the Korea Masters not only highlights his individual skill but also reflects the growing depth of Indian badminton on the international stage. A win against Vitidsarn could propel George into the finals, further solidifying his place among the sport’s emerging stars.
