Amen Thompson says he felt like Kobe after winner against Boston Celtics

Houston Rockets’ Amen Thompson said he felt like Kobe Bryant after scoring a game-winning shot against the defending champions Boston Celtics. Thompson took the shot with only 0.7 seconds remaining on the clock and scored a career-high 33 points to help the Rockets to a 114-112 victory over the Boston Celtics on Monday night.

Dillon Brooks shot 10-of-15 from 3-point range and led Houston with 36 points. The Rockets continued their rich form as this was their ninth win in the last 11 games.

On the other hand, Jaylen Brown scored 28 points for the Celtics, and Jayson Tatum contributed 19 after a scoreless first half. Luke Kornet added 18 points, and Kristaps Porzingis had 17 and eight rebounds.

“That was my first game-winner,” said Thompson, who set a career-high with his 33 points. “I feel like Kobe.”

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla took the blame on his shoulders for the last two defensive breakdowns.

“Those last two plays were on me,” he said. “Those were my fault. Didn’t put us in the best matchups. I saw the play that they were trying to run, and I tried to change the matchups and put our guys in a tough spot.”

On the other hand, the Los Angeles Lakers registered a 112-107 win against the Charlotte Hornets to claim their fourth straight win. Anthony Davis had 42 points and 23 rebounds and he was the star of the show for the Lakers. LeBron James had 22 points whereas Austin Reaves added 17 for the Lakers, who came up with a dominant display.

The Lakers currently have a 26-18 record and they will next face the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.
