Phoenix Suns veteran Kevin Durant reckons the franchise embarrassed themselves and the fans after an ignominious 116-98 home loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night.
The Suns are currently 28-33 in the ongoing season and they haven’t been able to come up with a good show. The team has gone 3-11 in their last 14 games as they look out of ideas and more importantly execution.
Durant wants his team to do better and come up with an improved show to turn the tables.
“We didn’t play up to our standards at all,” All-Star forward Kevin Durant said. “We embarrassed the fans and we embarrassed ourselves the way we played. I want us to be better.”
The Suns will need to play out of their skin to have a possibility of making it to the playoffs.
The franchise has players like Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal but they haven’t got the desired results.
“We’ve got to go on a run, but it’s got to start,” coach Mike Budenholzer said. “There’s no doubt that the standings, the circumstances that we’re in, there’s an awareness and we’ve got to do something to change it.”
Phoenix Suns had a two-point lead at halftime against the Timberwolves but they could not capitalize and veered off the track.
“When adversity hits, we start floating a little as a team,” Durant said. “That’s tough to deal with it.”
Phoenix tied a season-high with 22 turnovers and conceded a season-high 40 points off those turnovers. Durant, Booker, and Beal combined for 14 of the turnovers.
“That’s why we lost,” Durant said. “Forty points off turnovers, tough to overcome that. They didn’t overpower us on the glass, we just gave them the ball.”
The Suns will take on the LA Clippers on Wednesday.
