The Spaniard Marc Gasol was signed by the Lakers in Free agency move and there was a lot of talk regarding the move. Gasol returned to the Lakers, which had initially drafted him back in 2007.
However, Gasol didn’t have a great first two matches of the ongoing season. But the Spaniard was able to turn the tables in the match against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Gasol was on fire against the Timberwolves as he scored 12 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and four blocks. Gasol was brilliant on the offense as well as the defense as he had a complete game and thus the Lakers convincingly won by 127-91.
The experienced player scored all the points in only 21 minutes and thus became the first player in NBA history to achieve this stat line in such a short duration.
In fact, this was only the third match for Gasol with LeBron James but the Spaniard was able to create a great chemistry with the legend. Gasol was successful in setting up the ball for James and created many chances for the talisman, who scored 18 points in the game.
Meanwhile, Gasol camaraderie with James took the clock back for the LA Lakers fans. The duo reminded the fans of the rapport between Kobe Bryant and Gasol’s elder brother Pau.
James shared an instagram story of Kobe with Pau above the picture of him and Marc. The 35-year MVP of the previous season finals heaped praise on Marc and stated that he is a kind of player who can see a play before it even happens. Thus, James praised Marc for his reading of the game.
James said in the post-match press conference, “Certain guys see plays before they happen. He’s one of those guys. He drew a parallel of what it was like playing with Rondo the last two years. Two of those guys can open up a defense easily.”
