Golden State Warriors talisman Klay Thompson has made a rollicking return to the sport after a long hiatus of 941 days. Thompson hasn’t taken a lot of time in hitting the ground running after returning to the franchise. The linchpin is also playing an instrumental role in the success of the Golden State Warriors and he is making a potent duo with Stephen Curry.
Thompson scored 33 points against the LA Lakers on Saturday and came up with his best performance since his return. Golden State Warriors went on to win by 117-115 and Thompson played a key role in his team’s win as he racked up 16 points in the fourth quarter.
Thompson is slowly but surely shooting with more confidence and he has also been given more minutes on the court by Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. In fact, Thompson was given 20 minutes in the first few matches he played and now he has been given more time by the coach to do what he does best.
NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith showered praise on Klay Thompson after his match-winning performance against LA Lakers. Smith rated Thompson as one of the top five shooters of all time in the history of Basketball.
Smith wrote in his Twitter post, “Yes y’all. He is BACK!!! One of the top-5 shooters in the HISTORY of BBall. I am talking about Mr @KlayThompson. I keep telling everyone……that my brother will return with a vengeance. You cannot teach the kind of shooting stroke he has. Top-5 ALL-TIME!”
In the 14 games he has played so far, Thompson is averaging 17.9 points. Furthermore, is shooting 43.8% from the field and 38.9% from beyond the arc.
Golden State Warriors will next face LA Clippers on Monday and they will look to continue their good show. GSW currently has a 42-15 record in Western Conference.
