Rob Parker slams LeBron James for his willingness to trade the team’s future, calls him selfish

NBA analyst Rob Parker slammed Los Angeles Lakers veteran LeBron James for his willingness to trade team’s future, and also called him selfish. On the other hand, Parker showered praise on Golden State Warriors’ talisman Steph Curry after he recently made his comments on the franchise’s trade strategy.

Curry said the franchise should not make desperate moves ahead of the trade deadline February 6, which would further weaken his team for the upcoming seasons.

“Desperate trades or desperate moves that deplete the future, there is a responsibility on allowing or keeping the franchise in a good space and good spot when it comes to where we leave this thing when we’re done,” Curry said. “Doesn’t mean that you’re not trying to get better. It doesn’t mean that you’re not active in any type of search to, if you have an opportunity where a trade makes sense or even in the summer free agency [move] makes sense. You want to continue to get better.

“Nobody wants to be stale or be in a situation where you’re passing up opportunities. But it doesn’t mean that you’re desperate just flinging assets all around the place just because you want to do something.”

Curry said that general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. understands that they want to win.

“Mike understands we want to win,” Curry said. “We want to be in that position where we’ve always said that you want to be relevant in the championship type of chase. While we understand we’re getting older and deeper into our careers and allowing some of the young guys to kind of blossom, it doesn’t mean you’re getting desperate.”

Rob Parker said on Odd Couple show on Fox Radio, “He is just selfish,” Parker said about James. “Steph [Curry] is not that. LeBron is just selfish and he believes there’s some birthright that he has to be on a team that’s vying for a championship, no matter if it’s good health for the franchise long-term or not.”

The Warriors currently have a 21-20 record whereas the Lakers have a 22-17 record in the ongoing season.
