LA Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was full of praise for LeBron James after the veteran player came up with another dominating display for his team. James scored 33 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in his team’s 106-101 win over Utah Jazz. Thus, the Lakers were able to snap their three-match losing streak.
In fact, the Lakers were trailing by 12 points in the last quarter and another disappointing loss was on in front of them. However, James unleashed his beast mode as he scored 15 of his 33 points in the final 12 minutes of the game. Lakers scored 35 points in the final quarter while Jazz could only add 22 points.
“What we saw LeBron do, it’s just remarkable,” coach Frank Vogel said. “What he continues to do at this point of his career, to take over a game in the fourth quarter the way that he did with his energy, will and determination, it was really something special.”
Meanwhile, the Lakers suffered a huge blow as Anthony Davis suffered an ankle injury and he could only play for 17 minutes but he scored 17 points. However, James once again took the extra onus on his shoulders to get his team over the line. James has now scored 25 points or more in a career-best 23 straight games.
“Obviously, it took the sails out of us for quite a while when AD went out, especially with the game he was having up until that point,” James said. “It took us a minute to kind of recalibrate and get us some bounce back after that, but we closed the third quarter out in good fashion and was able to turn around in the fourth.”
On the other hand, Donovan Mitchell scored 37 points for Utah Jazz and he feels they should haven’t lost the game but gave credit to the opposition.
“There is no way we should have lost this game in my opinion. Credit to them. I give credit to where credit is due but we let the game slip in many different circumstances,” Mitchell said. “We played like we were up 40 in the second half and that can’t happen.”
LA Lakers will next face LA Clippers on 25th February.
