Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green doesn’t want to take the LA Lakers for granted despite the team’s poor run of form in the ongoing NBA 2021-22 season. The Lakers currently have a 20-19 record and they are placed in sixth position in the Western Conference standings.
Green feels the Lakers have a lot of star power as they have veteran players like LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis. The GSW star feels it would be a mistake to underestimate the Lakers and they are always a force to reckon with.
The Lakers haven’t been at their lethal best as they have failed to come up with collective efforts in the ongoing season but they can turn the tables in the playoffs.
Draymond Green said on his podcast while speaking to former Laker and Hall of Famer Gary Payton, “I always tell people like you still got to worry about the Lakers,” Green said. “Like, they still got LeBron James. They still got Anthony Davis. They still got Russell Westbrook. They still got Carmelo Anthony. They still have guys that can beat you.”
Green added that the Lakers have a lot of talent in their team and he knows what it is like to face these big players.
“As a player, as someone who got to face those guys, someone in the same division, those guys still have to be dealt with. There’s too much talent on that basketball court on that team not to have to deal with those guys. I mean, you’re talking probably legitimately six Hall of Famers. You got to deal with those guys.”
Meanwhile, Golden State Warriors and LA Lakers have faced each other once in the ongoing season in which the former won by 121-114 in the opening clash on October 19.
GSW is currently atop of the Western Conference standings as they have a 29-8 record.
