Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra praised Josh Hazlewood for his consistent performances in the three-match ODI series against Australia. The seasoned fast bowler delivered against India as he was right on the money throughout the series.
The veteran fast bowler scalped three wickets in three ODIs at an average of 24. The lanky pacer had the best economy rate of 3.13 in the series.
Chopra said Hazlewood is like an AI avatar of fast bowler as he is accurate throughout the series.
Aakash Chopra said on ESPN Cricinfo, “Josh Hazlewood, the AI avatar of fast bowling. I think he is standing out everywhere he goes.”
On the other hand, the renowned commentator also praised the left-handed duo of Cooper Connolly and Matt Renshaw for delivering the goods in the series. While Renshaw scored 56 runs off 58 balls in the third ODI, Connolly scored a match-winning knock of 61 runs off 53 balls in the second game.
“The way he batted in the second game, maturity belies his age. The way he managed his innings… Even in the last game, he was batting beautifully till he got dismissed and was actually running out of partners. He’s one for the future and I see a lot of interest for him in the IPL auction.”
“The second guy is Matt Renshaw, somebody who was seen as a spin batting expert. He had come to India as well. Comes from the land of Matthew Hayden, reminds you of him as well. He batted well.”
Meanwhile, Australia won the three-match series by 2-1 after India won the dead rubber contest by nine wickets at Sydney on Saturday.
India and Australia will next take on each other in a five-match T20I series, starting Wednesday.
