Former Indian opener and now a cricket analyst has picked six Indian batsmen who could shine in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League 2020. Chopra selected Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.
At number six, Chopra selected Delhi Capitals wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. The southpaw has impressed with his pyrotechnics and has an impressive record in the IPL. Pant has the skills to hit the ground running and has scored 1736 runs in 54 IPL matches at an average of 36.17 and a blistering strike rate of 162.7.
At number five, the renowned commentator picked Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma. The flamboyant batsman has always been instrumental in the success of the defending champions. The right-hander has scored 4898 runs in 188 IPL matches at an average of 31.6 and a strike rate of 130.8.
At number four, Aakash Chopra selected Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer. The right-hander has done well in the recent past and had also sealed the number four place in the Indian team. Iyer has led the franchise with aplomb and he has amassed 1681 runs in 62 IPL matches at an average of 30.6.
At number three, Chopra picked former Indian captain and CSK’s MS Dhoni. Dhoni will return to action after almost 14 months and all the eyes will be on his performances. The talisman has been a consistent performer in the IPL and he would aim to prove his mettle once again. The right-hander has amassed 4432 runs in 190 IPL matches at an average of 42.2 and a strike rate of 137.8.
At number two, Aakash selected RCB captain Virat Kohli, who is the highest run-getter in the IPL. RCB has relied on the shoulders of Virat Kohli and the talisman has mostly delivered the goods. Kohli has accumulated 5412 runs in 177 IPL matches at a fine average of 37.8 and strike rate of 131.8.
At number one, Chopra picked Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul, who has been in sublime form with the bat. Rahul has ended the last two seasons of the IPL among the top three run-getters. The stylish batsman has scored 1977 runs in 67 IPL matches at an average of 42.1 and a strike rate of 138.2.
