Former South African captain AB de Villiers has backed Royal Challengers Bengaluru to go on a title-winning spree in the Indian Premier League. RCB were finally able to end their IPL title drought as they lifted their maiden crown after beating Punjab Kings by six runs in the previous season.
AB, the former RCB talisman batter, said the franchise is in a position where they can go bang, bang, and go on to win three titles in a row.
RCB has got a solid team for the upcoming season, but it is known that defending an IPL title is never easy. Only the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have defended their title in the past.
AB de Villiers said on Star Sports’ Instagram handle, “I truly believe RCB is in that zone now where they can go ‘Bang, Bang, Bang!’ and perhaps even three in a row, who knows?”
Meanwhile, AB de Villiers said Virat Kohli will not come undercooked in IPL 2026. Kohli was recently seen preparing in the UK for the upcoming season.
“First of all, he is the guy with the best work ethic I’ve ever seen in my life. He will not come into the tournament undercooked, I promise you that. I am expecting a great season from him. I can only imagine how hyped he must be after resting quite a bit now with a completely different lifestyle. Virat will most definitely be ready; there is no doubt about it,” said De Villiers (via the aforementioned source).
Kohli scored 657 runs in 15 matches of IPL 2025 and played an instrumental role in taking the franchise to glory.
RCB will begin their IPL defense against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Bengaluru on 28th March.
