Arjun Tendulkar will continue playing domestic cricket for Goa, bringing an end to uncertainty surrounding his future with the State ahead of the upcoming season.
The 26-year-old left-arm fast bowler had not travelled with Goa for its recent pre-season tour of Oman, prompting speculation about whether he would remain with the association. However, sources within the association have confirmed that Arjun has decided to continue representing Goa.
The decision means Arjun will extend his association with the team he joined before the 2022-23 domestic season. He had switched from Mumbai to Goa in search of greater opportunities and has since established himself as a regular member of the side.
Arjun has collected 50 First Class wickets for Goa while also providing valuable contributions lower down the batting order.
His Goa career began in impressive fashion when he scored a century against Rajasthan on his Ranji Trophy debut for the State. Since that memorable start, the all-rounder has remained part of Goa’s plans across different formats.
Arjun is also part of the Lucknow Super Giants setup in the Indian Premier League. With the question over his domestic future now settled, he is expected to focus on preparations for another season with Goa.
Meanwhile, Goa’s senior men’s team has returned from a 10-day pre-season tour of Oman after ending the trip with an encouraging result.
The side, coached by Dinesh Mongia and led by captain Snehal Kauthankar, faced Oman in both T20 and one-day matches during the tour.
Goa endured a difficult start, losing the two-match T20 series 0-2. Its fortunes did not immediately improve in the longer format either, with the team suffering defeat in the opening match of the three-game one-day series.
However, Goa responded strongly to that setback. It won each of the remaining two one-day matches to complete a turnaround and claim the series 2-1.
The comeback allowed Mongia’s side to finish its Oman assignment on a positive note as preparations continue for the new domestic campaign.
With the pre-season tour completed and Arjun confirming his decision to remain with the State, Goa can now turn its attention towards the challenges of the upcoming domestic season.
