Ashes 2023: England vs Australia, 2nd Test – Dafanews Match Preview

England will lock horns with Australia in the second Ashes Test match, which will be played at the Lord’s from Wednesday onwards. The visitors have taken a 1-0 lead after winning the thrilling opening Test by two wickets as Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon got Australia’s ship to its mooring when they needed 54 runs with only two wickets remaining.

We look at the current form, head-to-head, players to look out for, and squads of both teams in our match preview.

Current form for Australia: W W D W L

There is no doubt that winning two back-to-back Test matches in English conditions would have given Australia a shot in the arm. However, the tourists wouldn’t want to get complacent as they know England will come harder at them after losing the first game.

Current form for England: L W L W W

England continued with their aggressive approach in the opening Test and they are expected to follow the same in the second Test. In fact, the hosts dominated the majority of the contest but could not add the finishing touches towards the end. Ergo, the home team will be looking to fill in the missing holes.

Players to look out for: Scott Boland, Pat Cummins, David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, and Nathan Lyon will be the crucial players for Australia.

Ben Stokes, Joe Root, James Anderson, Ollie Pope, Stuart Broad and Harry Brook will be the main players for England.
