Asia Cup 2023: India vs Sri Lanka, Super Fours – Stats Preview

The two familiar opponents – India and Sri Lanka – will take on each other in the Super Fours stage of the ongoing Asia Cup at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Tuesday. Both teams have been unbeaten in the tournament thus far and they will look to continue the good show.

India ticked all the right boxes as they obliterated Pakistan by a huge margin of 228 runs, registering their biggest win against the arch-rivals whereas Sri Lanka had defeated Bangladesh by 21 runs in their previous match.

The Indian openers – Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma – gave a perfect start as they added 121 runs against Pakistan. Subsequently, Rahul scored 111 runs whereas Kohli contributed 122 as the duo added an unbeaten alliance of 233 runs for the third wicket. Furthermore, Kuldeep Yadav was right on the money, taking 5-25 in his fine spell.

On the other hand, Sadeera Samarawickrama scored a crucial knock of 93 runs off just 72 balls against Bangladesh. Moreover, Sri Lankan bowlers were able to defend 257 runs as Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana, and Matheesha Pathirana bagged three wickets each.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma needs 22 runs to reach the milestone of 10,000 runs in the ODI format and he will become the sixth Indian batter after Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, and MS Dhoni to get to the feat.

Ravindra Jadeja needs three more wickets to complete 200 scalps in the ODI format.

Mohammed Siraj needs four more wickets to complete 50 scalps in the 50-over version.

Kuldeep Yadav needs four wickets to get to the milestone of 150 wickets in ODI cricket.

Dhananjaya de Silva needs six more wickets to get to the landmark of 50 scalps in the 50-over format.

Pathum Nissanka requires 141 runs to complete 1500 runs in the ODI form.
