India and Sri Lanka had topped their respective groups in the Asia Cup and many anticipated a final between these two neighbours. But, those hopes were quashed after Sri Lanka lost both of their games against Bangladesh and Pakistan and were knocked out of the tournament.
Sri Lanka were ticking all the right boxes in the Group stage but they looked flat in the Super Fours and had to pay the price.
India, on the other hand, have won both of their Super Fours matches to qualify for the summit clash, as it was expected. However, the Men in Blue have not yet brought their A-game to the ground, which is scary for the team that qualifies for the final.
India was sloppy in the field against Pakistan and Bangladesh, dropping a total of 10 catches. Furthermore, barring Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, India’s batting hasn’t looked a million dollars. Thus, India would want to come up with a more clinical performance.
Abhishek has been sensational for India as he has scored 248 runs at a blistering strike rate of 206.67. Furthermore, the spin trio of Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav have done a fine job.
As this is going to be a dead-rubber contest, India might play Arshdeep Singh in place of Jasprit Bumrah and could make more changes in the final XI.
