Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has heaped praise on all-rounder Washington Sundar. Dhawan stated Sundar has been performing really well since the time he has come back into the team. Sundar was out with an injury and recently made a return to action on the New Zealand tour.
Sundar scored a quickfire knock of 37 runs in the first ODI against the Kiwis to help his team go past the 300-run mark. Subsequently, the left-hander scored a fine fifty in the third ODI.
Sundar also took two wickets in the first ODI against Bangladesh and conceded only 17 runs in the five overs he bowled. Thus, the all-rounder has performed consistently since he has made a comeback to the team.
“Washington Sundar has been performing really well since the time he came back. Even in New Zealand he had an amazing knock and bowled really well. He’s a very good all-rounder, quite an impactful off-spinner and lower-order batter. I’m sure the more matches he plays, he’s going to get more experienced. He already had a very stable mindset. I’m sure he’ll do great in the cricket world and for us,” Dhawan said in the pre-match press conference.
Meanwhile, Dhawan added the rivalry between India and Bangladesh is always intense as the latter’s fans are very emotional.
“The rivalry is always there with any team but with Bangladesh, they are quite emotional people. They really enjoy and play with great intensity. It’s good fun, makes us more intense as well, and keeps us on our toes. It brings the best out of us,” Dhawan added.
On the other hand, Dhawan was dismissed after scoring seven runs in the first ODI against Bangladesh. Dhawan hasn’t been in the greatest of forms as he also didn’t have a good run while leading the team in New Zealand.
Bangladesh won the toss in the second game and they are 63-3 after 15 overs, at the time of writing. India has made two changes to their playing XI as they have brought in Axar Patel and Umran Malik.
The Tigers had taken a 1-0 lead after winning the first game by one wicket.
