Bangladesh’s bowling coach Allan Donald has showered praise on India’s talisman Virat Kohli. Donald believes bowling to Virat Kohli is like bowling to Sachin Tendulkar as there are hardly any chinks in his armor. However, Bangladesh was able to keep Virat Kohli quiet as he was dismissed by Taijul Islam for a solitary run in the first innings of the opening Test.
Kohli scored his last Test century against Bangladesh in the pink-ball Test in November 2019 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata and he will look to end the deadlock. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is often compared with Sachin Tendulkar as he has been super consistent. Kohli recently went past Ricky Ponting’s record of 71 international centuries.
“They are the prized wickets aren’t they, it is like bowling to (Sachin) Tendulkar. You know when that man walks into the crease the value of getting it right is absolutely paramount,” Donald told reporters on the eve of the game.
“So when the great Virat Kohli steps out and you miss a chance against him, you are going to suffer because they don’t give many chances after that. I thought we have been very good against him and KL and hopefully that will continue. Virat is hungry, he wants to leave the series with a hundred under his belt.”
Kohli recently got back into form in the T20 World Cup and also scored a fine hundred against Bangladesh in the third ODI. India’s veteran batter will want to get amongst the runs before the crucial Test series against Australia.
Meanwhile, India brought in Jaydev Unadkat in place of Kuldeep Yadav, who scalped eight wickets in the first Test match against the Tigers. On the other hand, Bangladesh made two changes to their playing XI as Mominul Haque and Taskin Ahmed replaced Yasir Ali and Ebadot Hossain respectively.
The Tigers captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bat first. The home team is currently 130-4 after 41 overs on the opening day of the second Test at Dhaka.
