Former Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin showered praise on Virat Kohli for his hunger and passion to play till the 2027 World Cup. There were doubts raised on Kohli’s future after the talisman returned with two ducks in the first two games against Australia.
However, the right-hander bounced back to form as he scored an unbeaten knock of 74 runs off 81 balls in the third game against Australia in the run-chase of 237. Kohli added 168 runs off 169 balls with Rohit Sharma, who scored a fine knock of 121 runs off 125 balls.
Kohli has all the experience under his belt and he has always performed consistently in ODIs.
Brad Haddin said on Willow Talk Cricket Podcast, “[Kohli] I think he’s still got the hunger to play till the World Cup, and you’ve got to remember he didn’t have any cricket from the IPL final. He went away, recharged, and as the tour went on, he was back to his old self in that last game.”
Haddin admitted that Kohli and Rohit played for the last time on the Australian shores but said the duo is not going to retire anytime soon.
“How good Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli? I don’t think, I think it’s the last time we’re going to see them here, but I don’t see them retiring anytime soon.”
The former wicket-keeper showered praise on Rohit Sharma for scoring a fine century in the third game of the series.
“But, yeah, the old boys to me like Rohit Sharma, the way he got that 100 and the way he’s presented, he’s not doing all that work to drop that weight not to be available for the 2027 World Cup.”
