Indian batter Surykaumar Yadav hailed skipper Rohit Sharma for his prolific performance in the recently concluded World Cup. SKY said Rohit walked the talk as he batted aggressively and played a key role in giving quick starts to the team along with Shubman Gill.
Rohit scored 597 runs in 11 matches of the World Cup 2023 at an average of 54.27 and a blistering strike rate of 125.95. The talisman scored three fifties and one century in the ODI showpiece.
India needed to change their approach in the big tournament and Rohit Sharma was able to lead from the front as he let his bat do all the talking.
“That’s one thing which will set the example of what he has done in the World Cup. It was a completely different Rohit Sharma what you saw. I mean, he literally walked the talk. I mean, what we spoke about in the team meeting, he did the same thing on the ground, and we are very proud of him as a leader. He led by example, and hopefully, we try and replicate the same thing,” said Suryakumar Yadav in the pre-match press conference.
Meanwhile, Rohit also led with aplomb and he was spot on with his field placements and bowling changes throughout the competition. However, it has been reported that Rohit Sharma might not play in T20Is.
On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav will lead India in the five-match T20I series against Australia in the absence of injured Hardik Pandya.
The first T20I between India and Australia will be played at Vizag on Thursday.
