Former England all-rounder David Lloyd showered praise on Mohammed Siraj after the fast bowler’s heroics against England at the Kennington Oval, London. Siraj returned with second innings figures of 5-104 while India were defending 374.
On the final day of the last Test match, Siraj bagged three wickets as he accounted for Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, and Gus Atkinson. Siraj gave his all in the five-match series and bowled a total of 185.3 overs throughout the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy. The pacer bagged 9-190 in the final Test match to play a key role in India’s thrilling six-run win at the Oval.
The fast bowler from Hyderabad scalped 23 wickets in five Test matches at an average of 32.43.
David Lloyd said on Overlap Cricket YouTube Channel, He’s one of my favorite cricketers now, Siraj. He comes alive with no Bumrah.”
Without Bumrah, Siraj also picked 6-70 in the first innings of the second Test match at Edgbaston, Birmingham, which India won by a gargantuan margin of 336 runs.
On the other hand, former England captain Sir Alastair Cook also praised Mohammed Siraj for his impressive performance. Cook said he loves when a player delivers under pressure.
Cook said in the same video, “Watching someone deliver under pressure. I think it’s like defining character. That yorker, when you know, was it how many runs? Eight [7] runs were needed? They needed to be able to nail a skill like that [yorker] and think at the top of your mark, especially when you’re the one who dropped Brook and all that stuff. I love watching someone nail their skills.”
Mohammed Siraj will miss the upcoming Duleep Trophy.
