Devdutt Padikkal Tops Bids at Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 Auction; Hubli Tigers Make Bold Moves

India’s middle-order batter Devdutt Padikkal emerged as the most sought-after player at the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 players auction, attracting the highest bid of ₹13.20 lakh. The explosive left-hander was snapped up by Hubli Tigers ahead of this year’s tournament, which is scheduled to be held from August 11 to 27 behind closed doors.

Padikkal’s acquisition signals Hubli’s intent to go big this season, and they didn’t stop there. The Tigers also roped in big-hitting Abhinav Manohar for ₹12.20 lakh, making him the joint second-costliest player at the auction. The Sunrisers Hyderabad batter is expected to provide a powerful middle-order pairing alongside Padikkal.

Sharing the second-highest bid slot was veteran batter Manish Pandey, who will don the Mysuru Warriors jersey after being picked for ₹12.20 lakh. The former India international adds invaluable experience and leadership to the Warriors’ lineup.

Among the bowlers, Karnataka speedster Vidwath Kaverappa commanded strong interest, eventually going to the Shivamogga Lions for ₹10.80 lakh. Known for his sharp pace and consistent performances in domestic cricket, Kaverappa is expected to lead the Lions’ pace attack.

Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Blasters placed their faith in another promising pacer, Vidyadhar Patil, acquiring him for ₹8.30 lakh. Patil’s ability to swing the ball and deliver in pressure situations made him a hot pick during the auction.

The Shivamogga Lions continued to strengthen their batting unit by adding India A batter Aneeshwar Gautam for ₹8.20 lakh. Gautam’s versatility with the bat could prove vital in the middle overs.

For the Mangaluru Dragons, the highlight of the auction was the signing of experienced all-rounder Shreyas Gopal for ₹8.60 lakh. With years of IPL and domestic experience under his belt, Gopal is expected to play a key role both with the bat and ball.

Each team is set to make two additional signings from their respective catchment areas in the coming days, which will round out their squads ahead of the high-stakes T20 tournament.

With several high-profile names and promising young talents now locked in, the stage is set for an exciting edition of the Maharaja Trophy. Fans may not be in the stands this time, but the on-field action promises to be as thrilling as ever.
