Former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has suggested a change in India’s playing XI ahead of the fourth T20I against West Indies. Karthik reckons Kuldeep Yadav, who was dropped in the third game at Indore, should return for the penultimate game of the series.
India made two changes to their playing XI in the third game of the series, bringing Prince Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy in place of Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube.
In the first two games of the series, Kuldeep returned with three wickets at an average of 28.67 but the wrist spinner conceded his runs at an economy rate of 10.75.
“Considering how flat that pitch is and the size of the ground, I would be tempted to bring in Kuldeep Yadav. I would try to bring him in place of one of the all-rounders, because I feel it is important to have five bowlers if you want to compete against any team in India, the way things are going,” Dinesh Karthik opined on Cricbuzz.
On the other hand, Karthik reckons Shreyas Iyer has done a good job as a leader in the ongoing T20I series against the West Indies.
“In terms of captaincy, I think he has handled it very well, to be fair. Even in the last game, there were not too many glaring errors out there that he needed to change. If I were Shreyas Iyer, I would be very happy with how I am rotating my bowlers. Even in this game, he did it perfectly. So, he has done a very good job,” Dinesh Karthik concluded.
The fourth T20I between India and the West Indies will be played at Hyderabad on Wednesday.
