ENG vs IND 2021: Compared to previous tour, we have more experience in our team – Virat Kohli

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli believes they have more experience in his team as compared to the previous tour of 2018. Kohli also feels that being in England for almost two months will give them an advantage as they have got acclimated to the conditions. India’s batting as well as bowling have more experience and they will look to hit the ground running.

Kohli added that even the young players are coming to England as it is going to be a second tour for the likes of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Hanuma Vihari. Meanwhile, India’s bowling line-up has been delivering the goods consistently for the team but the batsmen haven’t been able to put enough runs on the board.

“We have been in England for quite some time now. Due to that, we got acquainted with the sudden weather changes, which is a common phenomenon here. All these small things matter very much. Mentally you get more comfortable with time. So, that is definitely one advantage from our point of view,” said Virat Kohli.

“Compared to our previous tour to England in 2018, we have a more experienced side this time. Some of the younger players in the squad have arrived here the second time after putting in good performances. I am hopeful that we can execute our plans well this time, even the ones we wanted to execute in the previous series but unfortunately couldn’t,” he added.

Kohli added that their experience and belief has increased after the tour of 2018. India was beaten by England by a margin of 4-1 but it was a close series than what the series margin suggests.

“Not all of them will be successful in executing their plans, but we have quite a few players who can step up in their place and handle the pressure situations, even if some of them fail. Failure is a common thing that can happen to anyone, but I believe that any one of the players in the team will rise to the occasion on the given day and pull the team out of difficult situations. This belief and experience of us have grown since the previous tour of 2018,” said Virat Kohli.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will aim to come up with his best and he is going to hold the key for the visitors. Kohli had scored 593 runs in five Test matches on the 2018 tour of England.

The first Test between India and England will take place at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on August 4.
