England’s fast bowler Ollie Robinson has impressed in his young career. Robinson has the pace, swing and bounce in his armoury and he has troubled the Indian batsmen in the ongoing series.
The right-arm fast bowler was also able to get the big wicket of Indian skipper right at the fag end of the day’s play.
Robinson bowled around the fourth-fifth stump line to Kohli and was able to produce the edge. The fourth-fifth stump line has been Kohli’s kryptonite in the recent past and he was seen meddling with a ball which he could have easily left.
Robinson admitted that it was a huge wicket for him as Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world. In fact, the Indian captain hasn’t been able to get the big runs in the recent past but he was looking good after scoring 42 runs in the first innings.
Kohli had added 117 runs with KL Rahul as both of them were going great for the visitors. However, Robinson was able to provide the big wicket as Kohli meddled with the outside off-stump ball.
“Virat Kohli is probably my biggest wicket to date, so I was happy with that. It was a huge moment. The plan for him was always to bowl the fourth-fifth stump line, back of a length. Luckily the plan worked,” Robinson said at the end of the day’s play.
Robinson feels England’s bowlers didn’t have the rub of the green on their side as there were 10-15 plays and misses. The ball did go past the outside edge on numerous occasions but England bowlers were not consistent enough with their line and length.
“There were probably 10-15 play-and-misses that I could count and, on another day, we might have had them two-three down early on,” Ollie Robinson said.
“We definitely looked at conditions and thought we could get a few early ones here. I think on another day it (wickets) might have happened. I felt we did bowl well. We toiled hard against their batters and to be fair, they played well. It’s just one of those days where they didn’t nick it to be honest,” he added.
England will need to strike early if they are to make a comeback in the Lord’s Test.
