ENG vs IND 2022: My mindset is the same in ODIs, I try to bat similar to how I do in T20Is – Suryakumar Yadav

Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has stated his mindset is the same in ODI as well as T20I cricket. Yadav is known to play aggressively and he can hit the ground running on most occasions. The right-hander, who has impressed in his young career, had played a mindblowing knock of 117 runs off just 55 balls in the third T20I against England.

However, his magnum opus knock had gone in vain as the visitors had felt short in the run-chase. Yadav is known to play all around the ground, which is his biggest strength. The right-hander is now a vital cog in India’s white-ball team as he has grabbed his opportunity with both hands.

SKY got off to start in the second ODI against England at the Lord’s as he scored 27 runs but he could not go on to convert it into a big score after he chopped the ball back onto the stumps while facing Reece Topley.

“My mindset is the same in ODIs, I try to bat similar to how I do in T20. Playing the natural game is important and there is an advantage in one days that five fielders are inside the circle so the intent is always to score runs. Even if the wickets are falling I try to keep the scoreboard ticking,” Suryakumar said in the press conference.

Yadav revealed Sunil Gavaskar is his inspiration and has worked hard on improving his game in the last few years.

“He (Sunil Gavaskar) is our first inspiration but cricket has evolved and bowlers also make their plans. So, I have worked on how I can improve my game in the last three years, how I can make runs and that is what I practice. I have just added a few shots of my own.

The right-hander went on to add his hundred at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in the third T20I gave him confidence and he is motivated to do well for the team.

“It is a good motivation, obviously I was happy and there was an opportunity to make the team win. It feels nice that people expect from me. I got motivation form that to perform for the team, win the match.”

SKY will look to keep performing well in the limited overs format for India and deliver the goods for the team.
