Kolkata Knight Riders mentor David Hussey feels England’s World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan will be a great ally for skipper Dinesh Karthik. Morgan has all the experience under his belt and he has been able to get the best out of the England players. The England captain is currently one of the best white ball captains in the world.
Morgan’s experience will be of great value for Dinesh Karthik, who has also done a fine job for KKR thus far. The left-hander has got the best results for England and has impressed with his leadership skills in the limited overs format. In fact, there is no doubt that England is one of the best white ball sides in the world and a lot of credit goes to Morgan for the same.
Meanwhile, Morgan has played for KKR in the past but he hasn’t been at his best in the IPL. However, there is no doubt that he is a different player altogether. Not only will Morgan will help Karthik in the leadership role he will also help KKR bolster their batting unit.
“He is a World Cup winning captain. He has captained England for a long time. Classy player. He will be a great ally for Dinesh Karthik,” former Australia and KKR batsman Hussey said during virtual media interaction from Abu Dhabi.
“Maybe fielding in the ring and talking to the bowlers while our captain’s behind the stumps, keeping wickets. He is also a very cool calm and collected person so… he will be very handy in the middle order controlling things with our captain as well.
Morgan’s experience of handling the players in crunch situations will be of great help for Karthik. The KKR skipper also stated that he is looking forward to learning from an inspirational leader like Morgan.
Meanwhile, KKR had heavily relied on the shoulders of Andre Russell in the previous season and they would aim to come up with a collective effort. KKR had failed to even qualify for the playoff stages in the previous season and they would aim to turn the tables.
The IPL 2020 is all set to begin from September 19 in the UAE. The BCCI has also announced the schedule of the tournament. The opener of the tournament will be played between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
