Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers believes everyone is just trying to push Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli down. A lot of questions were raised on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future before the series against Australia but the veteran duo squashed all the critics in style.
While Rohit top-scored in the series with 202 runs in three matches, Kohli scored 74 runs in the final game after bagging two ducks in the first two matches. The veteran duo added a match-winning alliance of 168 runs off 169 balls for the second wicket against Australia in the run-chase of 237 in the final game.
“I don’t what it is about people. I don’t know if I can call them people. Cockroaches climbing out of their holes as soon as players get towards the backend of their careers. Why? Why do you want to pour negative energy into players that have given their lives for their country and this beautiful game of cricket. This is the perfect time to celebrate them,” said De Villiers on YouTube Channel.
The former Proteas batter said Rohit and Kohli have taken a lot of criticism in the last few months but some people are celebrating them and rightly so.
“They have taken a lot of criticism in the last few months. Everyone is just trying to push them down for what reason I have no idea. Obviously, I am referring to the minority because I think the majority of people celebrate Rohit and Virat and their incredible careers. And it is a fantastic time to celebrate them once again,” said De Villiers.
Rohit and Kohli will be next seen in action in the three-match ODI series against South Africa.
