Former England opener Sir Geoffrey Boycott has picked Ravindra Jadeja as his favorite cricketer amid the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. Jadeja had delivered consistently on the recent England tour as India had drawn the Anderson-Tendulkar series 2-2.
The left-hander scored 516 runs in five Test matches against England at an impressive average of 86, including one century and five fifties. Jadeja also scalped seven wickets on batting-friendly pitches in England.
Boycott said on Overlap Cricket Podcast, “I like Jadeja. I’ve always liked him, though I don’t know him and have never met him. He’s always in the game. Bowls left-arm spin and his fielding is fantastic. I’ve always thought if you can do a really great job in the team, fine, become a great player, get your runs. But another quality isn’t spoken about much. That is, through your performance, can you lift the others? And he fields so brilliantly with such energy. And he bats.”
Boycott added that Jadeja is a tough cricketer and has also helped CSK win the title on five occasions in the IPL.
Boycott added, “He has a smile on his face but is tough inside. In Test matches and lot of T20s, helping Chennai win it five times. They and Mumbai have won it five each. He’s a top player and does everything I like about a cricketer – energy, smiles, tough underneath and competitive. He fields brilliantly.”
Jadeja ticks all the right boxes in the field and he has been in tremendous form. The all-rounder had announced his T20I retirement after India won the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean.
Jadeja will be next seen in action in the two-match Test series against the West Indies in home conditions.
