Former Indian batter Harbhajan Singh has shed light on Suryakumar Yadav’s poor form with the bat in the ongoing T20I series against England. SKY has returned with scores of 0, 12, and 14 in the first three matches of the series and has failed to lead from the front.
SKY’s last six T20I innings read as 14, 12, 0, 1, 4, and 21, and thus he hasn’t been able to deliver the goods in T20I format. Yadav has adopted an aggressive approach while batting but his execution has not been up to the mark.
Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTube Channel, “There is one problem which I am understanding, it’s Suryakumar Yadav. An exceptional player, I like him a lot but I think somewhere his form is not good.”
“It’s understandable that in the T20 format, you’ve to play your shots. I think somewhere he has failed to score consistently with the bat over some time. I think he needs to deliver with the bat. He’s one player who can change the course of his game,” he added.
Singh reckons the captaincy load could be affecting SKY’s consistency in the shortest format of the game.
He concluded, “Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t scored enough runs over the last few series. Maybe, it’s captaincy load. He hasn’t scored enough but the type of payer he is, I am expecting him to play match-winning innings, and motivate the team.”
SKY is known to turn a match on its head with his blistering batting in T20Is and India would want him to be at his best in the upcoming matches. Yadav hasn’t been picked in India’s Champions Trophy squad.
