Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya showered praise on the batting duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir after they registered a comprehensive 59-run win against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai in the ongoing IPL 2025 on Wednesday.
With this win, the five-time champions also sealed their playoff berth whereas DC was knocked out of the tournamnt. Meanwhile, SKY played a match-winning knock of 73 runs off just 43 balls, whereas Dhir added the finishing touches with a fine cameo of 8-ball 24 to help MI post a par score of 180 runs on the board.
MI were 123-5 after 16.3, but these two batters added 57 runs off the last 21 balls on a difficult pitch.
Hardik Pandya said in the post-match presentation, “ We would’ve been very happy to get 160 but the way Naman and Surya finished it. Especially Naman, to come out and just hit on a difficult track was outstanding.”
On the other hand, Pandya also heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner for making his job as a captain easier. While Bumrah returned with figures of 3-12 in 3.2 overs he bowled, Santner bagged 3-11 in his quota of four overs.
Bumrah accounted for Tristan Stubbs, Madhav Tiwari, and Mustafizur Rahman, whereas Santner dismissed Sameer Rizvi, Vipraj Nigam, and Ashutosh Sharma.
Pandya concluded, “I can throw the ball to them (Santner and Bumrah) whenever I want, they bring such control and perfection which makes my job very easy.”
Mumbai Indians will play their last league stage match against Punjab Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Monday.
