Punjab Kings’ spinner Harpreet Brar has revealed he would cherish dismissing Gujarat Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill in IPL 2027. Brar hasn’t yet dismissed Gill in the IPL and he said he would like to get the better of his Punjab teammate.

Brar has scalped 37 wickets in 51 IPL matches at an average of 30.95 and an economy rate of eight. The left-arm spinner is known to bowl a stump-to-stump line and hardly gives loose deliveries to the batters.

Harpreet Brar said on Cricbuzz, “After Virat paaji, there’s no batsman whose aura is such that their wicket can be remembered. But still, I haven’t yet dismissed Shubman Gill in the IPL. I would definitely like to take Gill’s wicket in my career. But for the last 3-4 years, whenever there’s a match against him, I haven’t been playing.”

Brar hogged the limelight in IPL 2021 when he got rid of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Cameron Green while playing against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The left-arm orthodox spinner said the Impact Player rule has led to limited opportunities for him in the IPL.

“I can only work on things. Because you know what, the way cricket is going on now, there is the Impact Player (rule), because of which I have gone down one spot further (in the batting order). If I play, there’s only Arshdeep (Singh) and Yuzi paaji (Chahal) after me. Because Marco Jansen also bats. Even if Azmatullah (Omarzai) plays, he will go above me,” said Brar (via the aforementioned source).

“When you do well for your team, and suddenly, you are not in the first XI for the next game, it hurts. But as a cricketer, the team always comes first, which is our motto. We must go as per the demands of the team. But it doesn’t mean that if I am not playing, I’ll just sit and feel low.”

Brar has scalped two wickets in three matches in the ongoing Sher-E-Punjab T20 league while playing for Mohali Kings.
