India’s fast bowler Harshit Rana has been added to the Team India squad ahead of the third ODI against Afghanistan. Rana has recuperated after undergoing knee surgery. The Delhi fast bowler was initially part of India’s T20 World Cup squad but was later replaced by Mohammed Siraj because of an injury.
The lanky pacer had sustained the injury during the warm-up match against South Africa ahead of the T20I showpiece. Rana also went on to miss the IPL 2026 for Kolkata Knight Riders.
BCCI revealed that the fast bowler has completed his rehab, and he is all set to make a comeback.
BCCI said in a statement, “The Men’s Selection Committee has added Mr Harshit Rana to the India squad for the third and final IDFC First Bank ODI against Afghanistan. Mr Rana, who has completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE), has linked up with the ODI squad in Chennai.”
Rana has scalped 26 wickets in 14 ODI matches at an average of 27.38 and thus has done a decent job for India.
Meanwhile, India has taken an impregnable lead of 2-0 in the series after they registered a thumping 170-run win against Afghanistan in the second ODI at Lucknow. Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan were the stars of the show, scoring 154 and 125 runs respectively to help India post a mammoth total of 402 runs on the board.
The third and final ODI between India and Afghanistan will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Saturday.
