He has led from the front – Wasim Akram showers praise on MS Dhoni

Legendary Wasim Akram lauded Mahendra Singh Dhoni for always leading from the front. Dhoni celebrated his 43rd birthday on Sunday and Akram shed light on his instrumental role in the success of the Indian team. MS is one of the most decorated Indian captains, leading India to glory in the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Furthermore, Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings to five titles in the Indian Premier League. Dhoni was a complete package during his heydays, delivering with the bat, as a captain, and also as a wicket-keeper. Moreover, Dhoni is regarded as one of the best finishers in the white ball formats.

“As a cricketer, he has won the World Cup, and Champions Trophy – all the major (white-ball) trophies. On and off the field, he has led from the front. He has won matches with his batting, keeping and captaincy,” Akram said on Sportskeeda.

Meanwhile, Dhoni received a standing ovation wherever he played in the IPL. The crowd has always showered love on Dhoni for his immense contribution to Indian cricket.

“Wherever he goes, be it Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Punjab, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, the stadium erupts. And it must, why not? There has never been such a cricketer, such a captain in India. If Dhoni doesn’t get such a reception, then who will get it? Sachin used to get it, Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma – these are four big names in Indian cricket. Dhoni definitely deserves the kind of adulation that he gets,” Wasim Akram explained.
