“He has won everything” – Irfan Pathan lauds Pat Cummins’ role in SRH’s qualification for IPL 2024 playoffs

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan hailed Pat Cummins’ role in helping Sunrisers Hyderabad qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs. After SRH’s match against Gujarat Titans was washed out on Thursday, the Pat Cummins-led team confirmed their last four berth.

Cummins has led from the front and has played an instrumental role in team’s aggressive approach. The Australian has scalped 14 wickets in 12 matches of the ongoing season at an average of 31.71 and an economy rate of 9.25.

Cummins has bowled the tough overs for the Orange Army and has got the best out of his players. He has been spot on with his field placements and bowling changes.

Furthermore, Cummins led Australia to the World Test Championship title and also led the team to glory in the ODI World Cup.

“Aiden Markram was the captain of this team last year. In this season, he has been dropped mid-season. The last season was so bad, they had to make changes. Vettori has been with the Australian team and has worked with Pat Cummins, so their harmony came to the fore fantastically even for the SunRisers Hyderabad,” Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports.

“A train remains on track if all the bogies move together. Hyderabad’s train remained on track because its engine is very solid. Cummins has the experience. He has won everything. He has won the World Cup and the World Test Championship. He won a lot and had an amazing year,” the former India all-rounder added.

Meanwhile, Pathan said Cummins has brought stability into SRH. The Orange Army has batted with an aggressive approach and Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have led the way.

“They made a massive bid for Pat Cummins in the auction not just as a player. All of us agree that he hasn’t set the IPL on fire as a player. He hasn’t done that this year as well but as a captain, he has brought stability. Such a team needs stability,” he said.

“Kane Williamson did a very good job with this team. He used to manage this team very well. When his performance went slightly down and he left, the situation became a little bad, and after that, that stability wasn’t seen. However, the stability was evident as soon as Cummins came,” the cricketer-turned-commentator added.

SRH will play their last league stage match of the season against Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday.
