Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has hailed Virat Kohli’s captaincy. A lot of questions have been raised on Virat Kohli’s captaincy since India has lost the World Test Championship final against New Zealand.
Meanwhile, it should be remembered that Kohli has led from the front and has taken Indian cricket to new heights.
India has been a consistent team in all the three formats of the game and a lot of credit goes to skipper Kohli. Meanwhile, Kohli is known to take the bull by its horns and he always likes to get under the skin of the opposition.
Kohli also tries to take the full advantage of the Indian fans and often asks the crowd to back the team on the ground.
Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel, “He is in your face all the time. He is a captain who also knows how to take the crowd along. You want to do that, but nobody has the audacity to do it. Because that is the thing that matters the most.”
On the other hand, Kohli has set a new benchmark for the fitness levels and he has pushed his teammates to work on their fitness. Consequently, India’s pace battery has taken giant strides and Kohli has put his weight behind the fast bowlers.
“Every generation needs a different captain. The generation he is leading right now and the ones to come in the future, fitness is going to be paramount for them. He took this team to a different level. He set new fitness standards.”
Meanwhile, it has been noticed in the past that many good players haven’t been great captains as they overthink about their personal performances. However, Kohli is always in the moment and his batting records as a captain are second to none.
“We have seen so many captains who are consumed with their captaincy on the ground. They don’t give a hundred percent, their best in fielding or their body language. But you will always see Virat Kohli jumping and diving around, shouting, appealing, doing everything because that’s the brand he wants his team to play.”
“With the bat, he takes the responsibility that he will show how it is done, that there is nothing more important than Indian cricket; there is nothing more important than performances.”
Kohli will lead in the upcoming five-match Test series against England and he will look to deliver the goods with the bat as well.
