Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Praful Hinge revealed he manifested getting four or five wickets on his IPL debut. As it turned out, the fast bowler from Nagpur returned with impressive figures of 4-34 in his quota of four overs against Rajasthan Royals at Hyderabad on Monday.
Hinge got the big wicket of RR opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 24-year-old Vidarbha pacer revealed he had already declared that he would dismiss the youngster either with a bouncer or in some other way.
“I did think about it,” Hinge said after the match. “I don’t know about others, but I do believe.”
The Sooryavanshi wicket was premeditated. “I had already told a couple of people that I would get him out on the very first ball, either with a bouncer or in some way. I just wanted his wicket on the first ball. That was the plan.”
Hinge picked Suryavanshi’s wicket as the best one, as the left-hander has been in prime form.
“The best one was the first wicket,” Hinge said, “because he was in form.”
Meanwhile, Hinge started playing cricket at the age of thirteen, not knowing what leather-ball cricket was. “I told my father I wanted to join a club. He refused a couple of times, saying I was too young. But somehow, things started from there. After that, I just kept playing.”
Hinge gave his gratitude to the MRF Pace Foundation for playing a key role in helping him rise through the ranks.
“Everything is fine now. I want to thank MRF for taking really good care of me. Naveen sir, the physio, looked after me very well.”
He gave credit to SRH bowling coach Varun Aaron for the preparation before his maiden IPL game.
“Standing at this stage, it feels really good,” he said. “I want to dedicate this award to my family. They’ve made a lot of sacrifices for me. Their hard work and sacrifices mean everything.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad will next take on Chennai Super Kings at Hyderabad on Saturday.
