I try to bowl the appropriate delivery in any given situation – Avesh Khan

    May 25, 2021

Delhi Capitals fast bowler Avesh Khan has stated that he tries to bowl without any pressure to get the best out of himself.

Khan said that he tries to bowl the appropriate delivery in any given situation and bowl according to the match situation.

The fast bowler from Indore scalped 14 wickets in eight matches at an average of 16.50 and an impressive economy rate of 7.70 before the tournament was indefinitely postponed by the BCCI. Avesh has impressed with his ability to bowl quick and he was right on the money in IPL 2021.

Avesh added that he worked hard on improving himself and also added the slower delivery to his repertoire. The right-arm fast bowler also worked on improving his skills in the death overs.

“I have always aimed at improving myself. I didn’t use to bowl slower ones so I developed one. Plus, I have worked on my execution. During death overs, you have to get everything right because the batters are going for big hits and there’s some pressure. So in such situations, you have to nail your yorkers. The same goes for Powerplay,” stated Khan while talking to CricketNext.

The 24-year old added that he tries to bowl without any pressure as it is crucial for the bowler to keep his calm in pressure situations of the game.

“I bowl bindaas (carefree). What I feel is the appropriate delivery in any given situation, I go for it. The key is to not take the pressure. If you are free-minded, positive results will follow.”

Avesh Khan scalped two three-wicket hauls and impressed with his ability to bowl accurately. In fact, as Avesh was able to grab his chance with both hands, Delhi didn’t even play Anrich Nortje in their final XI, who had done a fine job in the previous season for the franchise.

This performance must have added a shot in the arm for Avesh Khan. Furthermore, the right-arm fast bowler is also picked as a standby player for the England tour and he will help the Indian players in gearing up for the Test series.
