India’s rookie wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel recalled his first meeting with legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Jurel said he was pinching himself thinking it was a dream or not when he met Dhoni. Jurel shared his thoughts while talking in an video with BCCI and shed light on his fan boy moment from IPL 2021.
Meanwhile, Jurel made an impressive debut as he scored a decent knock of 46 in his maiden Test innings against England at Rajkot. Furthermore, he impressed with his glovework behind the stumps in his debut Test.
On the other hand, Dhruv Jurel has also impressed while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Jurel has scored 152 runs at an average of 21.71 and a blistering strike rate of 172.73 in 13 IPL matches.
Dhruv Jurel said in a video uploaded by BCCI on X, “I was just watching him and I stood up and started thinking is this MS Dhoni standing infront of me. My first interaction with him was in IPL 2021 which was my first season. At that time, I was pinching myself to see whether it is a dream or not.”
“My dream is to meet Mahi bhai especially after the match after an international game. Whenever I have talked to him, I have always learnt something new from him so I will hope that I get a chance to meet him during the fourth Test at Ranchi,” he added.
Meanwhile, Jurel replaced KS Bharat in the third Test match as the latter had failed to deliver the goods with the bat. As Jurel impressed with his performances in his maiden Test match, he will retain his place in the final XI at Ranchi, which is MS Dhoni’s home town.
India and England will next take on each other at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi in the fourth Test match from Friday.
