Six-time champions Australia will face the defending champions England in the final of the ICC Women World Cup at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Sunday. Australia has been in red-hot form as they have won all of their eight matches thus far and they would aim to continue the good show in the final against the arch-rivals.
Aussies have ticked the right boxes and Meg Lanning would want her girls to give one last push in the final. The Australians have dominated in every aspect and they would aim to continue their sublime form.
On the other hand, England has peaked at the right time in the ODI showpiece. The reigning champions had lost their opening three matches and since then they have been able to successfully turn the tables in their favor. England has won their last five matches and they would aim to go all the way in the competition.
Both of these teams dominated their respective semifinal contest and it could be a thrilling final between these heavyweights.
When these two teams had met earlier in the league stage, Australia had won by 12 runs. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to note if Ellyse Perry will play for Australia. Perry had missed the semifinal clash against West Indies due to a back spasm. The 31-year old veteran had trained on Friday but she didn’t bowl in the nets, as reported by cricket.com.au.
Match Prediction: It is expected to be a close contest but Australia might enter as favorites as they are in red-hot form.
