If anyone can break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries, it is Virat Kohli – Irfan Pathan

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan reckons the current skipper Virat Kohli can surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 International centuries. The Master Blaster had scored 51 Test centuries whereas he had racked up 49 ODI hundreds in his illustrious career. On the other hand, Virat Kohli has already scored 70 International centuries, with 43 ODI tons and 27 Test centuries.

The Indian captain is currently third on the list of most century makers behind second placed former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, who had scored 71 International hundreds. Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar holds most of the batting records as he ticked the right boxes in his long career of 24 years.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli is currently 31 years old. Kohli is still fit as a fiddle and there is no doubt that he can easily play for another seven years if there isn’t any major injury concern in the future.

Kohli’s hunger for runs is well known and he gives his 120% whenever he takes the field. The right-hander has been a consistent performer for the Indian team and would like to continue his good form going.

Irfan Pathan said while talking to Star Sports Cricket Connected, “I am sure Virat Kohli might be thinking about 100 hundreds. He might not be talking about it but you know if anyone can achieve that feat after Sachin Tendulkar, he is the one. He has achieved so much in such little time and I hope if anyone breaks the record of those 100 hundreds.”

Virat Kohli is the most consistent batsman in the world. The right-hander is the only International batsman who has an average of more than 50 in all the three forms of the game. Kohli has scored more than 21000 International runs and he has scored runs in all kinds of conditions.

There is hardly any chink in Kohli’s armour and it is not easy to dismiss him cheaply. The right-hander mostly goes on to make a big score if he gets settled and takes his team over the finishing line.

Virat Kohli will be next seen in action while leading Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. The tourney will kickstart from September 19 in the UAE with Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah to host all the matches. Kohli would like to make the most of the training sessions as he hasn’t done a lot of outdoor training due to the lockdown situation.
