Imran Khan Calls for Jamshedpur FC to Maintain Momentum After Strong ISL Start

Jamshedpur FC winger Imran Khan has urged his teammates to build on their positive start to the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season, expressing his determination to help the team achieve new heights. Khan, who joined the Men of Steel last season from NorthEast United FC, is eager to guide his side toward major silverware this year, including the ISL Shield and Cup.

After securing back-to-back wins in their first two home fixtures, Jamshedpur FC has gained a promising foothold in the league. Speaking about the importance of the fans, Khan expressed his delight at the support the team has received at home.

“I am very happy to see that the fans are really pushing us and standing with us. When you play in front of a full stadium, there is a lot of motivation to play for,” Khan told Khelnow.

“We need to win the Shield and the ISL Cup this season, and the support from the fans is the most important factor. We need such support in all our matches,” he added.

Hailing from Manipur, the 29-year-old Khan has become a key figure for Jamshedpur FC since joining the club, featuring in 23 ISL matches and contributing two goals and three assists.

His performances have been instrumental in Jamshedpur’s strong start under the guidance of head coach Khalid Jamil. The club has secured nine points from their first four matches, marking their best-ever start to an ISL campaign.

Khan is fully aware of the challenges ahead, stressing the need for sustained focus throughout the season. “The season is long, and (the) future is unpredictable. We have just started, and we need to maintain the momentum,” Khan said.

“We need to work hard and do our best for the team and the fans. There is a lot of work to be done, and we are behind it.”

Jamshedpur FC has strengthened its squad this season with key signings, including Jordan Murray, Stephen Eze, and goalkeeper Albino Gomes. The team has already shown its potential by securing victories against strong opponents such as FC Goa and defending ISL Cup champions Mumbai City FC.

Khan credited the strong camaraderie within the squad for their early success, noting that open communication and teamwork have been vital. “We all have a good relationship within the team. Jordan (Murray), (Javier) Siverio, Javi (Hernandez), Len (Doungel), and (Mohammed) Sanan speak a lot about the match on and off (the) field, which helps us to play better on matchdays,” he said.

With a solid start and a united team, Khan and Jamshedpur FC will be looking to continue their push for ISL glory this season.
