Australia’s young fast bowler Lance Morris reckons it’s going to be a challenge bowling in the difficult Indian conditions. It is well known that the Indian pitches are not conducive for seam bowling and the visitors will have their work cut out.
Morris has the experience of playing 18 first-class matches and he has taken 59 wickets at an average of 25.08. The right-arm fast bowler has been added to Australia’s 18-man squad and he will be looking to grab his opportunity if he gets his chance in the final XI.
Australia will miss the services of Mitchell Starc in the first Test match against India due to injury.
“The feedback (of bowling pace in India) hasn’t been too great, to be honest,” Morris told SEN Radio on Tuesday.
“There’s not a whole lot to look forward to; I’m not going to see the ball zipping through to the keeper and him taking it (in the gloves) fingers up. It sounds like it’s going to be a bit of a challenge, but it’ll be exciting nonetheless,” said the winner of the ‘Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year Award’ this year.
Meanwhile, Morris added that it will be a good opportunity for him to learn in the tough Indian conditions. Morris is yet to make his Test debut and he will be wiling to give his best.
“We’ve got some great guys in the squad and a really experienced group now. It’s been good to have some training sessions learning off them.”
“I don’t want to put too many expectations on myself. I just want to use this as a learning experience, I’ve never toured with cricket before so this will be my first overseas experience.
“It’s going to be a huge learning opportunity for me.”
Australia have been in good form in the recent past but there is no denying the fact that they will have their work cut out in the difficult Indian conditions. The first Test match will be played at Nagpur from February 9.
