Former Indian batter Ajay Jadeja has questioned why Ishan Kishan was sent back home after the third T20I. After playing in the first three T20Is against Australia, Kishan was replaced by Jitesh Sharma in the last two matches.
The left-hander scored back-to-back fifties in the first two matches and Jadeja feels the southpaw should have played all the five matches against the visitors. Kishan scored 110 runs in three T20I matches at an average of 36.67 and a strike rate of 144.74 in the series.
On the other hand, Jitesh Sharma returned with scores of 35 and 24 in the last two matches against the Aussies.
“There was a series right after the World Cup. Ishan Kishan played three matches and went home. Was he really that tired after three matches that he needed rest? He didn’t even play a lot of games at the World Cup. He deserved his spot in the playing XI for the first few World Cup matches. How many Indian players have scored a double century on a good day?” Jadeja asked while speaking to Sports Tak.
“Ishan Kishan didn’t even play the entire five-match T20I series against Australia. He was sent home after three matches to rest. So, if this is going to continue, how will you ensure that he is fully ready?” said Jadeja.
Meanwhile, Kishan played in the first two matches of the World Cup against Australia and Afghanistan but he was left out after that as Shubman Gill made a return to the playing XI after recovering from dengue.
Kishan is also part of the Test and T20I series against South Africa and he will look to keep up the good show. The first T20I between India and South Africa will be played at Kingsmead, Durban on 10th December.
