India’s batsman Suryakumar Yadav is all set to make his debut in the first T20I against England. Yadav had earned his call-up after an impressive performance in the domestic circuit and the IPL.
In fact, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli hadn’t revealed anything about Yadav’s debut in his pre-match presser.
However, the batsman himself shared an Instagram post that confirmed that he is all set to make his International debut. Yadav shared an Instagram story post by Sahil Khan, a fitness and youth icon, who revealed that the Mumbai batsman will make his debut.
“Big HUNK Announcement: Suryakumar Yadav Going to debut Tomorrow in International Cricket. Best of luck Brother for Your India vs England series,” the caption of the post read.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has been knocking at the selection doors for some time after impressive performances. SKY, as he is known, had scored 480 runs in 15 innings at an average of 40 in IPL 2020 and a whirlwind strike rate of 145.02. The right-hander has played 47 matches for Mumbai Indians in which he has scored 1416 runs at an average of 35.40 and a strike rate of 135.76 in the IPL.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has been in scintillating form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. The right-hander has amassed 332 runs in the five matches he has played, at an impressive average of 66.40 and an excellent strike rate of 151.59.
The Mumbai batsman has scored 2024 runs in 101 IPL matches at an average of 30.21 and a strike rate of 134.57.
Yadav is expected to bat in the middle order and he might play in place of Shreyas Iyer. The right-hander has been a consistent performer and he will look to continue his good form. The 29-year old has had to wait for a long time for his opportunity and he will aim to grab it with both hands.
The first T20I will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad today.
