England’s veteran fast bowler James Anderson reckons bowling on Indian tracks will be a challenge for English bowlers. Indian pitches are not known to be conducive for fast bowlers and thus the visitors’ bowling pace battery will have their work cut in difficult conditions.
England has picked four spinners in their squad and they are going to hold the key for the tourists. But barring Jack Leach, Tom Hartley, Rehan Ahmed, and Shoaib Bashir don’t have a lot of experience under their belt.
Meanwhile, England last won the Test series in Indian conditions back in 2012 when Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar delivered for the team.
“I have a duty to pass on information to people. We have bowlers who have not bowled in India before, so it will be a different challenge for them. We have to help where we can,” Anderson said.
Anderson also admitted that fast bowlers will not bowl a lot in the Indian conditions.
“There are only four seamers going so we will not be expecting to bowl a huge amount of seam. It is just a slightly different role. You might not bowl the overs you do in England but they are still important,” Anderson said.
Anderson is still going strong despite being 41 and feels he still has a lot to offer to the team.
“I still feel like I’ve got a lot to offer this team. I still feel like I have got the skills to win England games of cricket so as long as I feel like that, I don’t see why I should finish just because of my age,” Anderson said.
Anderson has bagged 690 wickets in his glorious career and he is the most successful fast bowler in the history of the game.
India and England will take on each other in the first Test match from 25th January onwards at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
