Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar has heaped praise on Ravindra Jadeja for his fine form and delivering the goods for the team in all three forms of the game.
Jadeja has been in sensational form for the team in the last couple of years and he has done a fine job for the national team.
Jadeja has taken giant strides as a batter and the results are palpable. The southpaw scored an unbeaten knock of 175 runs in the first innings of the first Test match against Sri Lanka and helped India post a gargantuan score of 574 runs at the IS Bindra, Stadium, Mohali.
Furthermore, Jadeja took a total of nine wickets in the Test match and he was awarded the Player of the match for his fine show. In fact, Jadeja was just one wicket away from becoming the first player to take 10 wickets and score 150 in the same Test match.
Jadeja knows how to score big as he has scored three first-class triple centuries and he has been the most improved Indian batter.
“I think he is recognizing the talent that he has. Sometimes it takes you some time to realize how much potential you have. He has taken his time, nothing wrong with that, and now he has started to believe a lot more that he can contribute with the bat,” said Gavaskar on Star Sports before the start of the second Test in Bengaluru.
“175 not out is a big score in any class of cricket. What he said during the end of that day, that he has three triple centuries and two double hundreds. So he knows he can bat and he wants to translate it to Test cricket. Great news for Indian cricket,” said the former India captain.
Jadeja will look to continue his good form for the team and he has been a consistent performer in all three formats of the game.
Meanwhile, India took honors on the opening day of the second Test match as they posted 252 runs in the first innings after Shreyas Iyer scored a vital knock of 92 runs. Moreover, the home team took six wickets and the visitors are trailing by 166 runs.
