Afghanistan head coach Jonathan Trott said India is one of the big favorites in the ongoing Asia Cup. India won their opening match of the tournament against UAE by nine wickets as they chased down 58 runs in only 4.3 overs.
Team India continued their dominant run against arch-rivals Pakistan, beating Salman Agha’s team by seven wickets and 25 balls to spare. There is no doubt that India are a league above every team in Asia and they have a potent side.
India has won 30 out of their last 33 T20I matches as they have ticked the right boxes.
While speaking to ANI, Jonathan Trott said, “Every team that India puts out nowadays always has a very good side. Asia Cup in these conditions, we saw them in the Champions Trophy here 50 over. It would be foolish not to say they are one of the favourites.”
The former flamboyant English batter also praised Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav. SKY scored an unbeaten knock of 47 runs off just 37 balls in the high-octane clash against Pakistan.
“I think Suryakumar Yadav is a fantastic player, obviously, as he’s captain now. So it’s an extra added responsibility, so I look forward to seeing how he goes with that leadership role,” he added.
On the other hand, Afghanistan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib said India is the best team in the world and there is a lot to learn from them.
“India is the best team in Asia and in the world, you get to learn a lot from these boys,” Naib told ANI.
India will next take on Oman in their last Group A fixture at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Friday.
