India vs Pakistan isn’t a rivalry anymore, says Suryakumar Yadav after Super 4 clash win

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said India vs Pakistan isn’t a rivalry anymore after the Men in Blue registered a six-wicket win against the arch-rivals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday.

India won comfortably with seven balls to spare as they chased down the target of 172 with ease. India has won the last seven T20Is against Pakistan and the scales are hugely tilted in the team’s favor. Pakistan has failed to challenge the Indian team, and the recent records speak for themselves.

“I would like to say one thing on this question. I feel that you should stop asking this question on the rivalry,” he said, before being reminded the question wasn’t about rivalry at all.

“Standards and rivalry are the same,” he continued. “According to me, if two teams play 15-20 matches and if [head-to-head] it is 7-7 or 8-7, then that is called a rivalry. But 13-0, 10-1….I don’t know what the stats are. But this is not a rivalry anymore. But yeah, I feel we played better cricket than them.”

On the other hand, former Indian wicket-keeper Deep Dasgupta also concurred with Suryakumar Yadav and said India-Pakistan isn’t competitive anymore.

“What rivalry? I agree completely that the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry is no longer what it was. Other rivalries like India-Australia, India-England, India-New Zealand still exist, but India-Pakistan is not at that level anymore,” he said on his YouTube channel.

There is no doubt that India has totally dominated Pakistan in the white-ball formats. Pakistan last won against India in the Asia Cup in 2022 in Dubai.

India will next take on Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Wednesday.
